To paint or not to paint- that is the question?

I'd power wash it quick and then see what it looks like in the Spring.

Once one starts to "paint" or "seal" it has to be renewed... Adding work down the line not the best choice IMHO.
Agree with pressure washing and painting. If the wood is in good condition, no need to pressure wash before sealing. I've been spraying clients fencing, as well as mine every spring for many years and it would be impossible to pressure wash 100's of yards of fencing. Some of the pine boards are over 20yrs old and still solid.
