My partner and I have debating on whether what we thought was our beautiful silkie hen is MAYBE a rooster.

She talks like a hen and has never tried to crow but my partner thinks he has seen her mont one of the other girls (I haven't seen this yet so I don't believe him haha). She is big girl too hmmmm

What do you all think?

You might want to check out this thread. It is not at a ll unusual for hens to mount other hens, especially if you do not have any dominant roosters in your flock. It's not just a mating ritual. It shows dominance. The hen doing the mounting is the dominant hen. Your partner wins that one.

I don't do Silkies, but that looks like a pullet to me.

Thanks I read the thread. Very intresting!! haha I hope she is a hen it will feel a little weird if she works out to be a rooster but I will still love her/him haha she talks like a hen I actually reckon she will lay soon (fingers crossed lol)

With the spiky topknot and the huge comb, I'm going with cockerel
