fascinating project with a great aim, i'm following! I've had very good luck with the CX cobb 500 so far, but being able to breed yourself, that would be awesome and a larger slower growing bird would be cool too!

Turk ditto on the broodies. Even my Leghorns go broody.

I think the cornish talk them into it.And the pure bred Saipan would go broody for 6 months at a time.

Ralph,I for one would take either option. I have to admit I enjoy hatching fluff balls, but sometimes the risk of incubation can't be justified in my mind.Especially in a breed that I REALLY WANT.

Well, I did have someone have 13/14 eggs develop from some of my shipped eggs once. So I'd believe it, especially with an experienced hatcher.

i have had great hatches from shipped eggs
i find the ones in babble wrap and packed in shavings do very well

I can't help but wonder about the bubble wrap. Eggs are porous, is it possible the wrap could interfere with air and moisture exchange? I've hatched them,but I always wonder....

I try to ignore them
