Well, got home last night and only had 6 eggs. Just up and down this time of year. I have a coupl that I know have totally quit, I guess for the season. It will be interesting to see when they start up again.

We had 10 yesterday and my son brought 1 up already this morning from when he let them out. We are supposed to be near 70 today but that isn't lasting. We are supposed to start dropping until we are back to our normal temps: mid 30's for day time hi.

Okay, got a total of 10 again today. I know 3 girls that are not laying for sure, so maybe I don't count them at all and I can say 10/14

. (That sounds better than 10/17 but I still won't complain.) We have a cold front coming in tomorrow night and todays hi of 67 will drop to a hi of 37 on Sunday. That should make for some interesting laying.

We have 60 chickens some are older and molting, some are to young to lay yet.

Yesterday, the day before this big storm, 20° F high with wind - 3 dz.
Today, bad blizzard, 0° F, chickens were kept inside all day, - 28 eggs.

We do have lights on in the coops.

We feed our own grain mix and day before yesterday I cleaned out the fridges and freezers.

Warmer yesterday, high thirties and only 2 eggs. Thanks Zorra (Aust) and Andromeda (EE), at least SOMEONE is working!

40's today. 5 eggs, all before 9 AM so I can claim it was colder then when they laid yesterday and my theory still holds up

Zorra and Andromeda AGAIN plus Persephone (EE), Echo (Aust) and Zia (Ancona). The Australorps and Easter Eggers are responsible for 20 of the 29 eggs laid in the last 7 days and Zorra laid 7 of them. MVP of the week award goes to Zorra! She's laid 9 of the 10 days since she started, 8 days straight today. Maybe she's going after Persephone's 11 day streak.

At least the Faverolles didn't have their fluffy butts on the nests today. Maybe they have given up trying to hatch pine shavings and non fertile eggs.

Warm front this week in Ontario with a projected high of +14C tomorrow, we'll see if the warm weather perks up the girls for more laying... today was +10C and I only got one egg.

. On the up side, my girley who was molting seems to be getting her feathers back! Maybe she'll get to work!

Mid 40's today. 8 eggs, 6 before 9 AM when it was low 30s.

Both EEs and both Australorps laid again today.

Been busy but we have a hi of 36 today and at lunch I think I counted 11 eggs. We'll see. Bruce your theory may hold after all.
