That's a good idea, I was feeding mine too much scratch, and they weren't laying! I was mixing half scratch and half laying pellets..

My egg production hasnt really picked up quite yet. One of my hens is very broody though. I have to literally dump her out of her nest bucket every evening. For the last 2 days, we have collected 12 eggs from 9 layers. 9 hen size and 3 pullet size. Not too bad for 2 days of laying. I worked late the other night and didnt want to disturb the girls after dark in their coop

The low last night was 28 and the high today reached 42. 3/14. I'll try cutting back on the feed. They are getting a little "chunky" and don't get out of the run enough to run it off. As far as corn, I only give them a handful with the layer feed. Just enough to see that there is some in there. There is a good chance of rain and snow tomorrow. Interested in seeing the numbers tomorrow compared to the mild weather egg count.

Yeah, we're supposed to be dipping way down tonight... but I already know that tomorrow is going to be a 2 egg day... 3 if Zoe can't fit one in before sunset tonight...

I'm not doing any heat or light in the coop, and because it'll be 15 degrees tomorrow morning, I am considering whipping up and setting out a pan of sticky chicky for them on their evening yard time. Get 'em good and full of oatmeal and yogurt and whatnot to go to bed on...
