Well my Black Cochin banty is laying but I would not say it's brown in color, they are all a creamy off-white color. I can post one if you want something to compare it to..wOOHooo!First eggs are always exciting. I am still trying to decide if my Cochin banty is laying or not. We have not witnessed her in the box at all but have gotten a couple of smallish brown eggs so we aren't sure if one of the reds is laying small, or if the banty is laying big.

I had a creamy off white that was slightly different than my Salmon Favorelle eggs and I was wondering if that was it as well. If you could post a comparison that would be great! The one egg was slightly smoother shelled and a little lighter in color.
Thanks! My SF's look more the off white like your Cochin eggs, very light color. We are still unsure if our Cochin is laying. She was spotted in a nest box but jumped out when she saw us looking at her. We have been in the 80's the last few days and I think the girls aren't ready for the heat so soon (neither am I) as they have only been laying about 50%. I have yet to get a 100% day this year. Not sure if I will. Most of the girls are 2 now but still producing regularly, just not daily. I am interested to see what happens later this week as a cold front is expected to come through on Wed. night and put our hi's in the 50's. Girls may start laying better and confirm Bruce's theory!Ok puddin. Sorry for the delay but here are my banty cochin eggs, black australorp EE and Salmon Fav then the 2 Cochin eggs. They really aren't a lot smaller than my SF but the color is much more of a off white.
