X many. I think blathering about choice and emphasizing you don't have to be whatever's in your pants at preschool could well be harmful, but there is not a single reason why toys have to be segregated. I don't know about the average bear, but I tried to do what adults suggested or told me about when I was a child. That would have quite confused me, to say the least.I think that a lot of transgender stuff has arisen because of parents being unwilling to let their little boys touch purple/pink/glittery toys and girls touch tools/cars/dinosaurs etc. "If I like flowers, I must be a girl!" "If I like building stuff, I must be a boy!" I built stuff, dug for worms, fished, enjoyed cleaning fish ('cause I could work on identifying the organs!), used a bow and arrow, etc. I was mad that boys could run around shirtless and I couldn't, but aside from that, I always knew I was a girl.
I happened to like playing with dolls when I was a kid. I also happened to like putting said dolls on trucks, zooming them around, or making mudballs and ambushing my siblings.

Once you have grown then you get to do whatever you want, I guess. Hey, some people try to make themselves look like lizards, switching genders seems positively tame compared to that!
Quite agreed.I'm trying to teach my son to keep his privates private, and open-plan bathrooms would be a no-go for me, unisex or not. I'd have no problem with unisex bathrooms - if every toilet/urinal had a stall with a well-fitted, locking door that extends a good way towards the floor. No problem with washing your hands in the same room as the opposite sex.
