Hi I hatched 4 Tolbunt babies fri/sat
they have the frizzle gene & I was wondering if anyone had tips on determining their sex before they crow/lay?
I heard the newborn head/skull shape doesn't work on frizzles
Attached is their hours old pic I will try to get better ones today as they are more fluffed up. I started my Tolbunt flock with 23 chicks from eggs I hatched. I separated them into two pens, one for the suspected females and the other for what I thought may be males. After about ten weeks I could finally tell the gender for sure. The results? Almost exactly 50% male and 50% female in each pen!
I'm afraid you will have to wait another 8 or 9 weeks to tell with certainty. Then you can expect to see crest differences and those iridescent green feathers on the back, as well as the beginnings of hackle and saddle feathers.
I'm so impatient but sadly have come to the realization that ill have to just wait
Do you (or anyone else reading this) have pictures of what the crests for boy/girl around 8-9 weeks will look like?
Thanks!
Oh didn't know that.
It's my first time with polish so still learning.
My Seramas are just 4 weeks old and it is SO obvious that one is a boy by his comb growth/color.
