All Tolbunts are a work in progress, they are definitely not a quick cash return bird. None of them are completely up to the standard yet, even the new proposed standard, that is being rewritten. As mentioned before health, fertility, and genetics problems are common in these birds due to the lack of genetic diversity. You are doing right by the breed by introducing the gold laced into the line to broaden the gene pool. Many people don't want the chore of working with a line that takes years of breeding, growing out, and selecting the best birds to continue on and improve the line. Some want them because they are pretty or rare. Others because they are seeking a quick and high cash return. A few breeders are putting the time and effort into the breed to truly improve it, and it sounds like you fall into this category chickenzoo. Keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing your progress and maybe comparing notes.
