That makes sense. i couldn't figure out where the crele and candy corn had come from. i like all three patterns so i guess if i get other "varieties" they will have to have seperate pens.
Here is an updated picture, confirmed my gut was right that he's a too, no crowing yet but he's getting those pointy tail feathers and still just carries himself very much like a boy
Also just wanted to start posting on here regarding the tolbunt standards committee updates, and information that gets shared on facebook groups.
First off, I am Courtney DuCharme, I am one of the co-chairs of the tolbunt standards committee that is working toward APA approval for the variety.
We do have a rough draft of the german standard put into APA format we are working with, I am currently awaiting response from Walt (APA new breed/variety chair) on his thoughts of changes to make, points to consider etc. The goal is to have a APA type standard to work toward (and will present with) while we finish waiting out enough people to meet the minimum requirements (APA membership of 5 years, breeding tolbunts for 5 years, and 2 years of showing (there are minimum amounts on number shown for this too) to put a bid in for the variety.
If you are a breeder and would like to be on the APA journey with us and have not joined the APA yet please do- very few people breeding tolbunts were members before last year so there is still time. We have a facebook group made just for people who want to help with the APA process, there are minimum requirements- you have to be an APA member (easy to join), be raising and selecting toward the SOP for breed type, and either showing or be willing to show your tolbunts. There are 2 other facebook groups for general tolbunt chat if you just have pets or keep them, but do not want to help with the process.
Currently, the german standard is on a tolbunt polish page of the Polish club here: http://www.polishbreedersclub.com/tolbuntpolish.htm
and the picture on there is of tolbunts in Europe and is a good visual of what to breed for color-wise.
For correct type please refer to the APA's standard of perfection, there are drawing in there as well.
We can only present "one variety" which means bearded smooth tolbunts will be our focus as most people seem to have bearded, and smooths show their color and type better.
I started a tolbunt breeders list to help people find tolbunts easier- please feel to find people on it, or to add yourself to it:
I have one that isn't bearded. I think I like that look better. She also had a smaller crest, which I also like. She laid her first egg a few days ago. It's so teeny. I thought she was supposed to be LF sized, but she is pretty small.
