greyeyes....I know, about Harry. He was the hardest chicken to sex. Still, I have only 'heard' him crow...never seen him crow. But finally the skinny feathers in front of his tail feathers came out so that we could see him. He is so puffed up and fluffy you could never see them. But he is so very good to his two girls. Once they were in there his true nature came out. We were in there working today and he was so not aggressive towards us but kept moving himself where he was between us and his two girls. They are sweet also but would get curious about what we were doing and he would chatter at them and they would come back over to where he was. Am hoping to get lots of little cochin babies from him in the spring. Oh, and when we got the girls there were actually three of them....but one was a boy. I rehomed him last week but Harry was not mean to him ever.....he would just round him up with his girls. He was younger than Harry, a later summer hatch. It might have changed in a few more weeks but I did not want to take the chance. He was brother and son to the girls.
I think in the end this little pen and lil' coop will work nicely for letting the little ones grow up.
And my DH rocked it. I really think he was getting a little jealous about the chickens but has given up and accepted it. I like my chickens. I am still getting eggs from the ones that were laying and DH is a little bit impressed with that.....he has even stopped complaining about the yogurt and oatmeal and BOSS that I treat them with.
