Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

Barely squeezing these in in Feb: Runner duck eggs, Easter Eggers, and Black Copper Marans all "scheduled" to hatch Thurs/Fri of next week. I don't usually incubate duck and chicken eggs together, but decided to have the Runners and EEs share an incubator.

And I just set a bunch more BCM today. Might be time to get a second hatcher because staggered hatches are going to happen! 🤣

Mine are hatching end of next week into early March also. I think you might be onto something with the second hatcher idea. :thumbsup

I am looking forward to setting lockdown on the batch due the 17th tonight! finally called it quits on this past weekends hatch last night. we ended up with 11 turkeys and 6 chicks, not bad. better than our recent hatches. I will try to remember to post pics of the eggs after lockdown is set up. happy hatching everyone!
Congrats...and turkey poults are adorable! Are you doing eggtopsies on the unhatched? I find it helpful for improving future hatches, too. 🙂 Best of luck with the upcoming hatch!

I have done a few eggtopsies but I do not like to. that being said a good number of the ones that were DIS the last couple of days were alive at lock down a day or 2 before that so??? I have upped the humidity for the lockdown period this last hatch and these eggs were incubated in the cabinet incubator after the dial in period( I had quite a few drowned babies the first few hatches of the year so I changed out the "water trough" in the cabinet for a smaller one and in the process got in a 2 day fight with the wafer thermometer) I did not see any sticky chicks witch indicates to me that the incubation period humidity is dialed in to where it needs to be.
this next hatch will include the first ducks of the season at our house( the ones at the school came from our breeding pens) so I am excited to see how well we do!

You can get lavender orpington eggs from Meyers. I don't think that they are that expensive, but I'm not sure.

$23.38 each plus shipping for the chicks... haven't checked eggs. My girl actually came from meyer through my pet chicken. She is a sweety, but I'm not convinced on dropping $100 to add 3 same-breed friends.

If you can get an incubator I think you can get 12 eggs for $25 that's with shipping included. At least that's what it was when I was looking into lavender orpingtons.

I didn't end up getting them because my flock changed roosters in charge and my silver sebright is making beautiful silver chicks. I want to see what they look like once they feather out, but so far I am very impressed with them.

WOW! That's a lot! I usually sell my English Orpingtons for $8 per chick and they come from a beautiful English bloodline.
