Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

I'm going to try to stay out of the feed store when they have chicks 😂 I know that I will bring some home if I go in there
my solution was to have my special order arrive the same day as the feed stores chicks... ok so they will still call me to take any that are picked on or having a hard time, look ill you know the norm? but I "should" be able to resist taking home just random numbers(if for no other reason than the brooder is "full")

My first chickens last fall were three barred rocks and three buff orps from the local rural king. I lucked out big time because they're all big babies that just want to be held and loved on between getting treats, really were all girls, and started laying between 4 and 5 months. Beginners luck?

My bielefelders that I hatched myself that everyone said were the perfect most docile chicken ever are feisty through and through. One cockerel was even trying to cull all the other ladies besides his one and only, the lavender orpington. I was thrilled about them, but have decided not to add any more to the flock. 🤷‍♀️
So far my chickens have been well behaved. I have several different breeds. I did have bad luck with my black jersey giants brother. He was so mean. He always focused on me and always tried to attack me. I gave him away to the guy that we know locally. He was a beautiful bird, but he was just awful.

Good luck with that 😂

All settled in. They're so cute at this stage. Seems like an exceptionally friendly group of chicks too!

my new this year brooders. Each level has a heater and is supposed to hold up to 100 day old chicks. I bought them because ducks are such a mess to brood and I was hoping the wire floor would help?
