How does one get the hard, dried, crusted goop off of a chick in the incubator? It’s tiny wing is stuck to its body. Eye lid is stuck closed on one side.
If I have to help babies out and they are sticky I take them straight to the sink and run the water as warm as I can stand on my wrist and give the baby a shower. You have to be careful to not get water in its face or let it get chilled. I keep a clean towel over my shoulder and dry it off as soon as its clean. Then hurry it back to the incubator to fluff up.
Keeping in mind this is just what I do

Giving it a go. It’s very cold in the house, but I’m thinking it will be fine with a towel handy.

It's amazing how much they develop in 24 hours! When I candled my Silkie eggs on Day 3 the Salmon Faverolles were only on Day 2 and I couldn't see anything...Day 3 and there is clear development in at least 10/12 eggs!

Someone around here hit a flock of geese on purpose 🤬 they got charges pressed against them thankfully.

We actually had someone in Richmond light a pitbull on fire and leave it there to suffer. The police took the dog to the vets and did everything they could but he died. His name was Tommy. They made a special law after that happened that people would be charged with a felony in those instances. The guy who did it is now rotting in jail.
Horrible...glad that they were prosecuted, but that doesn't really fix the underlying issue, does it? 😕 What kind of garbage would you have to be to commit an act like that? (rhetorical) Poor Tommy, to have encountered that kind of sicko. 😞 It's good that those kinds of acts of cruelty were made felonies there afterward, but I wholeheartedly agree with @Magnolia Ducks that rotting in jail doesn't even come close to fitting the crime.
