Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

Pics
So you are all having new fluffy butts and I am over here in Ireland trying to dig french drains and dry out the chicken yard from the very wet winter we have been having getting very jealous! Last of the drains goes in tomorrow now that the gravel has arrived....so guess who just ordered some Lemon Pyle Brahma and Silver Laced Wyandotte eggs to be delivered next week :lau. March hatch-a-long here I come!View attachment 2016421

Oh it's been raining here a lot too, more than usual for us this time of year actually. We have crawdads that keep showing up in our backyard, the chickens like to eat them though. lol!
I'm sure I'll see you in the March hatch-a-long as well!

We used to have a rooster named Peggy too! He was a New Hampshire. Still one of my favorite roosters ever (after dozens). He got some baling twine wrapped around a leg as a young adult. As a result of that injury he walked with a noticeable limp the rest of his day. Miss that guy to this day.

Aww, this is by far the sweetest rooster I've ever raised too. He likes to lay on my foot and fluffs up for neck scratches. I can't keep roosters here but he's going to live with a friend of mine that has a little animal sanctuary. If he's still around once I find a new property to live at, he's coming with me.

Crawdads in your yard 😂 that's hilarious

We have a 10' deep ditch behind our property and a few ponds close by, I'm pretty sure that's where they come from. They just think my entire backyard is a pond when it rains a lot, lol. We've had turtles cruise through there too, including an alligator snapping turtle that we gently coaxed back out of the yard without losing any fingers. 🐢

Snapping turtles can be quite crazy! We had those in NH. They would get quite large. Sometimes they'd be in the road so we would move them because people hit them and kill them on purpose.

Found this guy in our pasture one day and he had a lot of attitude! 😄

They are neat (and prehistoric-looking) creatures. We've moved a few off the road over the years and they haven't exactly been grateful. 😉

What is wrong with people?? Every year, the box turtles get squashed around here trying to cross the roads...we try to move the ones we come upon, but geez, people - pay attention! And if you run them over on purpose, you have some very bad karma coming. 😠

Someone around here hit a flock of geese on purpose 🤬 they got charges pressed against them thankfully.

We actually had someone in Richmond light a pitbull on fire and leave it there to suffer. The police took the dog to the vets and did everything they could but he died. His name was Tommy. They made a special law after that happened that people would be charged with a felony in those instances. The guy who did it is now rotting in jail.
