Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

They will be fine. I put freshly hatched chicks with two week olds, they still live happily ever after. Promise.
So far they're good. My chicks seem to be less aggressive without the red bulb. I just got a heat plate and I love it and so don't the chicks.

I have 3 week old chicks in the brooder now, would the new day olds be ok with them? I would love to raise them together if I can.

I only have personal experience with a two week gap. You can try it, just watch closely. When the new hatched went with the two week olds, the older ones didn’t even notice them.

Went to check the incubator and there was 1 chick. Went to look again 30 minutes later and now there is 3 😁 my fever finally broke! We made it a joke that I got chickenitis from the chicks and that's why I was sick 😂 my husband brought some of the chicks to me to hold when I wasn't feeling well 🤗

Aww, glad you're starting to feel better!

OHHH that is so smart! Im going to steal this trick, thanks!

Go for it! It works great!

I have done it but there is a big difference between the activity level of the 3-week-old chicks and the 2-week-old chicks. I find that even if you raise the newly hatched chicks for a few days separately they can handle the 3-weekers better.

I don't keep them from pooping on it, I put Glad Press'n Seal on top so it's easy to peel off and replace as needed. Everything I do in my brooder is based on easy cleanup, lol.

This idea is genius. I needed to find away to keep the poo off my new one that I want to keep looking nice.
