Yes, that's the beak. There is an area on the back of their neck that fills with fluid temporarily and gives them the strength to peck through the shell while hatching, also using the little egg tooth on the tip of their beaks, so no, you wouldn't see the zipping with feet. This is looking great!

That is the beak. Don't worry, at this stage it's fully ready to hatch. If it gets stuck, all you need to do is just finish popping the egg open. You won't hurt anything.

ok, Thank you for the reassurance. Ive never had an egg pip and zip on the skinny end of the egg.

That's one of the great things about taking part in a hatch-a-long though. You'll be hatching alongside people of all different levels of experience and no matter how many times I've hatched chicks, every single time I'm in a hatch-a-long I feel like I learn something new!

Well a couple mins later I went to take a peek and he’s opening and closing his mouth now. Mind blown.

You honestly could just completely pull him out Don't pull the yolk off or anything, but put him in a cup or a bowl.

I had to do this with one of my chicks and it took only about 12ish hours for the yolk to absorb when I put it in a small little bowl. I also would take it out of the incubator every so often and pet it just so that it was comforted because they don't like being inside of a bowl, but they don't understand that it's what safest for them.

I was hoping that mine would hatch soon, but I don't see any that are trying to internally pipe yet waiting is hard... I'll never forget to write the date down ever again

Plus these should all be silver chicks because my silver sebright is the new top dog here.

They'll surprise me I'm sure. The little chicks were all excited to see me. We are going to put them out in the shed today in the corral so that they have way more room. I'm glad I bought that brooder plate, it's amazing. I might go buy another one!
