Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

oops sorry I double posted. Its out. And its crazy throwing itself all over the incubator. Is this chick black? It looks silver-ish. I didn’t help it. I hope it’s ok. It’s wildly thrashing around. View attachment 2021205View attachment 2021206
Looks silver like mine, but yours are probably considered blue. Mine are all staying silver. I say silver because their dad is a silver sebright, the moms are assorted purebreds I have.

They have a hard time walking at first. They're like deer with their new legs 😂 they usually sleep a lot the first day and have mobility issues.

Once it's ready to go in the brooder make sure to dip its beak in the waterer so it knows where to get it's water from.

Good morning everyone. Little one passed overnight. I don’t think it was meant to be. ❤ Can’t thank you all enough for the support.

Good morning, I'm sorry to hear it didn't make it through the night but now you know for any future hatches that you were able to get through one of the most difficult assists that come up. You're like a pro overnight after that. :hugs At least you can rest easy knowing that you gave it the best chance.

We candled the shipped eggs last night.

I eddited to add :ththe above pic is the eggs we pulled cuz they were not started or blood rings on day 8..
. I was impressed the marans eggs seem to have handled the shipping the best out of these 3 breeds.i have one legbar growing still but 11 marans and 7 turkey! Honestly as long as something hatches I will be happy. I know that the eggs that failed to develop and the early quitters were due to shipping.

these are the eggs we moved into lockdown last night.
My DD's had a tough choice to make they had a whole counter filled with eggs from this past week that they were hoping to put into the incubator, but there was only room to add 22 new ones. so I did what any fair parent would, Each girl got to fill 11 spaces with the eggs of their choice!
The youngest one chose mostly eggs from her black Necked neck pen and the older girl put in all pekin duck eggs for her fair project. Now dont get me wrong there are probably 120 eggs in incubation and the majority of them will be for one girls project or the other girls. I do hope that soon I will get to choose a few more for what I want to see. We should start seeing ducks this upcoming Wednesday with the hatch at the school, in the FFA class. My older girl I'd part of the class so she talked me into donating eggs for the class project. Naturally we took some turkey and duck as well as some marans and light brahma from some local folks I know. Ob and a few odd balls from our flock.
