Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

THIS is NOT an Ayam Cemani.... I'm thinking my Silkie girls aren't freeloading slackers after all, and this was after an accidental visit to Mr Cochin, because I've got three typical Cemani chicks all laid around the date of this one! (Like this chick was laid 2.6, but 2.3,4,and7 are all Cemani...)

So after 5 different hatches over 3 years in this incy suddenly i cant hit lockdown humidity.
Im getting 58% WITH 2 tupperware containers full of water AND the entire base filled.
Is it possible the anti slip membrane is stopping the humidity from permeating????
Im at a loss, its day 19 today so i could really do with upping it, theres probably a gallon of water in that thing so 58% is ridiculous, oh the hygrometer agrees with the digital read out.

Hmm, as odd as that is, I would think that 58% should be ok. It will rise as the chicks start to pip. Could it be that the probe that reads humidity is somewhere that the mat would prevent the correct reading?

Got 4 chicks hatched, decided to float test the other two and neither moved and I checked them both three times.

The first one I opened quit half way through so was a mushy mess. The second one appeared to have broke through the membrane at the wrong end of the shell and died. Was fully formed poor baby.

Sad but it happens. Although 4 out of 6 for posted eggs isn’t bad!

Oh it's the worst when the fully developed babies don't make it, I'm sorry! Congrats on the sweet peeps that hatched!!

Here’s the chicks, the one with the light skin is a pure little chunky bird 😅

Aw so cute! 🥰

Whenever I’ve hatched that colour chick from my own birds it’s always ended up coming in pure white.

However, the breeder said he’s had some of his hatch that colour and they’ve been gold.

So potentially white, gold or blue/gold 😊

Thanks! It will be so fun to see what she grows out as!
