Too hot on first day -- throw the eggs out and start over?

My TA218C, which did great on the incubator run I just finished, decided to, on the first day I put the eggs in, tell me that the temperature was far lower than it actually was. I discovered this when I thought I was turning up the knob (Little Giants have that nasty little knob but I have needle nose pliers to do fine adjustments) too far on the second day (today) and cross checked the temperature -- it was at 106F!

Should I throw the eggs out and start gathering eggs for another run?

Well its day 7 and I'm so bad at candling I couldn't tell if there were embryos or not. So I chose one at random and cracked it open, which was unfortunate for the embryo I found but fortunate for the rest.

I think part of my problem is that the shells on these eggs are thick and dark, and my flashlight lets too much light escape to the outside of the egg.

I wonder if these egg characteristics are the result of the way of life of this breed I'm developing.
