Too hot?

Yes agree not going to put them outside til at least 6 weeks.
I heard/read to start them at 95* & lower by 5* each week... but this is my first hatch so still learning

This is what I have done b/c it is what I read- I started at 95, mine are 3 weeks old tomorrow and they actually seem to like it around 80 right now which is good b/c I had to separate an injured one so the two brooders are sharing a heat lamp right now. But I had it at 80 today before the injury b/c they were all hanging out as far from the light as possible.

Get a dimmer extension cord....much easier way to adjust the temp.

You can gauge how much heat they need by how they act, they can be cooler than the 5 degree a week thing.

Just keep it where they are comfortable...the 5 degree a week is just a guideline, they can take colder if they get acclimated to it slowly...it will make them feather out sooner.
