Torn waddle on rooster

I came home to find my roosters got in a fight. One has a torn waddle with a small chunk that’s hanging, but not a clean tear. I can’t get a picture yet. It’s dark now and I’ve separated them. He’s in his own coop with food and water, his face is pretty beat up but looks like it will heal.
I’m reading mixed reviews about cutting the ripped part off. I’d really rather not do that as he’s already pretty traumatized. Does anyone have experience with this?

I've had roosters with torn combs and wattles, it usually looks worse than it is. You said small chunk? Applying iodine initially and an anti-bacterial cream on the injury for several days and letting it heal usually does the trick. Post pics though, we need to see the extent of it in order to give advice.
