Tornados in Mississippi and Tennessee

Here in Canton, MS which is just outside Jackson we have only gotten some light rain, but lots and lots of wind all afternoon and now the wind is picking up they are saying the bad stuff should hit us around midnight. Got all the birds and horse bedded down and tarps down to try and keep out most of the rain, just hope it doesn't get as bad as they say it might.

I watched our local 10 o'clock news and Southaven MS and Memphis, TN got tore up pretty good by tornados. Also around Oxford MS. The next round should be here by midnight.

Arkansas got hit pretty bad. At 10 pm there were 7 confirmed dead and some missing.

Thank goodness it didn't hit close to us.

Please pray for those who lost loved ones.

Update- 7 students in Union College in Jackson, TN were trapped in a collapsed dorm. All suffered non-life threatening injuries. The college is shattered.

Columbia Gas in Dickson likely hit by a tornado. There is a fire shooting flames 400-500' in the air. The flames were visible for miles and miles. Unconfirmed number dead.

So far 17 people have died, I think they said in TN alone. That may be in TN and KY. The news is confused with so much going on.

There is widespread property damage. A truck pileup on I40. Power is out all over the place.

We're only about half done at this point. The second big wave is getting ready to hit!

I hate this kind of spring weather.

I live in Arkansas (on the Texas/Ark border) and that bad storm passed through here around dark:thirty last night. I watched the clouds but they weren't swirling even though they were green. I guess it touched down up near Van Buren somewhere and I don't know where else.

[URL='http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20...ap/20080206/ap_on_re_us/severe_weather Where we are (Sevierville, TN) we got some rain and a little wind, but not much. The sky is looking really nasty now, so I expect T-storms all day.

I am in east central Alabama. The storm is almost here. School opening has been delayed til 10 a.m. The wind seems to be picking up and there are tornado warnings in counties to the west and north of us.

Remember us!

My west field is flooded, and I have a few branches down. I had to wade to my coop this am. It is on an elevated concrete slab, so it was dry inside except for a small leak up high at a tarpaper seam.. Will go out later, and try to remedy that.
I heard a lady on the news, (don't know exactly where she was) her house, horses, and chickens are gone! I hope some of her animals can be recovered!
This weather is so scary! 50 degrees in Indiana yesterday, down to 0 by Sunday!
