Yeah I don't share that with my son and he is 21!!!! But hey! In a dry climate one must use what works. I am hatching ducks and they require higher humidity and that pad WORKS!

Oh yeah! Do it all the time. Ordering I mean. Yes I recently had 12 cochin eggs and none hatched. Tonight I have been waiting on some frizzles. Some were to hatch today, some tomorrow. Last time I candled them they were very active in there. So far I have one lonly little chick. You just never know. So many factors involved. Temp, humidity, us opening the bator too much (yeah, I'm guilty). So...better luck next time and I hope I get some more outta this hatch.

That is a great idea!

I got is from someone on the New Years Day hatch thread. Can't remember who but it works!!!!!

I remember last year it was Kathyinmo that did this.

I think I'm the winner as far as bad hatches with shipped eggs. Last eggs I got here were in August and I hatched 7 out of 10.

I don't know where my figures are and I might be off a shot, but I did post my costs from this summer. You don't wanna know..

Then again I've gotten some really nice birds from great lines and although my hatcg rate was so low, I figure I just have really expensive birds. LOL

I wouldn't ship a box of rocks with UPS if I cared anything about them.

OK, I have an idea I have been thinking about for a while. I don't know if anyone else has thought of this or tried it. But, I haven't heard of anyone complaining about rough treatment from the PO with chicks. I have seen complaints about them arriving late but to the best of my knowledge not rough treatment. What if you shipped eggs in a PO approved box for chicks and obviously marked with "live animals" or "live chicks" whatever you put on them. My thinking is the PO thinks they are live chicks and the treatment if totally different. Am I crazy or would this work?

I'm pretty sure the mail carriers know that live chicks are NOISY. If they saw a box marked live chicks and it was silent they might assume they were all dead and there was no need to take special care?
