Toulouse Geese Thread

How cute you guys! I love all the pictures. They sure are fun to watch grow up. I can't hardly wait to have more space so we can get a little flock of them!

Molly hatched out 6 goslings last week. They are African/Toulouse mix from the shade of their beaks and feet. Molly was to be Buddy's mate, our only other Toulouse, but he does not like her. However, Ginger does like her. She laid 11 eggs, hatched out 6. Sometime last Saturday, she lost one...probably to a hawk. The remaining 5 are growing like weeds and learning to get along with the rest of the flock.

Gotta love the fuzzy butts!

I have this thing where I parody the Shrek line, "Look at the wee little boots!"
I look at the babies and say with a cockney accent, "Aww look at the wee babes! Look at their we little butts!"

I love that we all act like idiots around our birds sometimes. I have a silly song I sing about them... "Honkey Doodles, they're not Poodles"! My husband thinks I'm weird, but the geese come running when they hear it!

We suspect that the father of Molly's babies is Ginger, the gander on the right. We call him the Legolas of the group: He's got the lanky, pretty boy elf-look that apparently the gals all love. Here he is with Sweet Pea (a gander, wrongly sexed) and Sissy's babies.

I'll post pics of Molly's goslings as they grow. I'm curious what they will look like as they grow into adults. I've seen pictures of the Toulouse/African cross, and they range from looking mostly Toulouse to mostly African.

Oh and when they all get raucus and I want to settle them down, I sing 'Soft Kitty' to them.
