Hey there! I have ten seven week old Toulouse geese. The other day it began to rain and all of them froze in place and raised their heads up toward the sky. They stayed that way until the rain slacked up. Does anyone know what they were doing?

They were trying to figure out how that was happening. Geese are very intelligent; they are curious, they learn from goose experimentation (their own, not ON them) and they LOVE falling water.

My three Toulouse goslings are the same age and they do such silly things. The other day they created a new game: lifting and dropping the metal handles on a galvanized trash can. What fun!

By the way, welcome to BYC!

My three goslings are getting hard to tell apart, but Zoe has a small white patch of feathers right at the underside of her bill. They're still fuzzy around their faces and necks, although Ariel is developing the "corrugated" feather look on her neck. They're faces look chubby. :love

Their bodies sort of spread out when they swim lazily around the pond; they look almost like pillows afloat. The adult ganders sit higher in the water.

They always come running - or swimming - to see me. Caleb has mellowed out and even gets quite close to me without hissing about my proximity to "his" girls.

I absolutely will post a whole slew of photos later today, to show the various changes they have grown through. They are almost 8 weeks old now.

Hi! My husband and I are just starting our hobby farm and I am excited (and surprised) to say my toulouse geese are the most entertaining animal so far. I call them my Gaggle Gang because they like to come up behind and yank on my belt loops or one will try to distract me while the others steal stuff when I am working in the pasture! I think they are about 3 months old now.
