I know Iain, I see little moves towards her trusting more each day, like this morning I was sitting on an upside down bucket and she came about 2' away and started nibbling on the towel I have hanging to dry their feeders out. I don't usually feed any of my ducks/geese by hand the Muscovies love to catch things in the air. and usually Sammy doesn't get much in the way of treats unless I do feed him by hand because of my greedy EE's they will literally leap through the air and try to snatch something out of the goose or ducks mouth. And yesterday I was sitting up on the hill behind our house [thats where the grass is] and Missy and Sammy came and laid down close by me, it was so sweet. I have all the patience in the world, I love these geese and the rest of my flock. it's kinda like when a mama duck/goose hatches and raises her babies they are kept away from us so again they have to learn to trust us as their care givers.Lydia, I have no doubt that Missy will bond deeply with you. To me, building a trusting relationship with geese not raised by hand from hatchling can be a long road which will truly test even the most patient people. But it also teaches us that the reward from having built that trusting relationship is far sweeter than the instant gratification feeling we get from raising babies. And for what it is worth, in my opinion, hand-feeding treats to geese is over-rated.![]()
