They are slow, but it doesn't seem 'difficult'. Mine are just young - so that's where I stand right now.

Can you imagine them actually lifting off the ground when they 'try' to fly? My girls have never been able to. They are quite plump I love that about them.

I found the old 1910 APA judge's handbook, which made for interesting reading. Of course there was no buff colored toulouse back then. For DQ items, it listed white feathers in primaries/secondaries, twisted wing, crooked back, wry tail, wrong leg/feet color, and falling more than 2lbs below weight standards which were gander 25lbs and goose 20lbs. Wrong eye color was not grounds for DQ back then.

I didn't expect the pictures to be so well done and colourful. The only other copy I've seen in person (which was what the judges had at our county fair and Jamie Carson showed me) was in black and white.

They also sent me a free book "Living With Chickens" because I joined APA for 3 years Love it! I spent a good part of my night reading it.
