Toulouse Geese Thread

Lydia, I raised my toulouse, Chicory, with a cayuga duckling and my 1st buff dewlap girl, Barley, with a silver appleyard duckling. When they were a month old, I blended the two pairs. A month later, I got a trio of two month old buffs shipped to me, and I moved the cayuga and appleyard to the coop with the other ducks when I integrated the buff trio with Chicory and Barley. Ducks and geese all adjusted beautifully, but it is a gradual process for geese to build new relationships.
Thanks I am seeing that.

Today Missy my Toulouse gave my Embden gander some lessons on foraging, since he has been a giant duck for 5 yrs he hasn't really done alot of foraging, so today we went on a foraging walk , it was so cute even though he stood mostly like he was on guard, he did nibble some grass. I didn't realize how much he was missing out on being a goose. Now he will learn thanks to a pretty little Toulouse name Missy.

I didn't even have to read the first post before I subscribed. I have looked for this very thread where I can post pictures and updates on my two buff Toulouse girls. I finally found someone (in Ontario - 18 hours from me) willing to sell a gander. I was planning on going to the nationals anyway. Could be fun? :D LOVE this breed. Haven't had any other breed of geese, but their looks alone are enough to make you coo a little :)

They are just beautiful I know you are enjoying them. Do they talk to you? my girl does talk to me not loud like my Embden gander but just little noises.

Yes they do. They honk at me when I step out the back door and I'll chat back with them "Hello girls" - HONK "Having a good day?" HONK :gig

They also like to get into everything. I was throwing down cracked corn this evening and they would not leave my scoop alone. Head stuck right in there sucking back all the corn

Silly girls!

I finally got my girl to eat grapes today, my gander loves them as long as I bite them in half for him but today my girl finally tried one and she liked them too. We sure do spoil them don't we. LOL

Yes for sure! I find them much fussier with sweet things like fruits. They turned their bills up at my watermelon Saturday! I was shocked! Everyone else devoured the watermelon :p

I'm getting watermelon tomorrow for my flock but I had to promise my dh he could have a piece too. LOL Not sure how the geese will like it when I put it out before only the chickens seemed to really like it.

It was on sale here, so I bought two big ones from Costco :) I had to give one to my Fiancée in order to give the second one to the birds lol. I really spoil them! It's amazing to see the stampede to see me when I open the back door. I love it! :D

I haven't tried grapes yet.... will have to try those. My guys love watermelon, though they do not understand greens.

Aoxa, what is the hatch date for your pair? Just curious, because my greys were hatched on May 12th.
