Toulouse Geese Thread

Man I love hearing everyone's goose stories! I can't wait to have a whole flock of my own!

I posted in it's own thread, butthought I would ask you guys as well - Trina has been having some trouble with regurgitation. She seems to be regurgitating her food and water pretty much all the time now. At first, if I picked her up right after she had been eating or drinking she might have a little burst come out that I attributed to having a full crop and me probably just putting pressure on it by accident. In the last week or so it has been getting worse, and now she is regurgitating food and water pretty much every time she goes to eat or drink. she basically just pukes it up as she walks around and makes her little baby noises. She is JUST starting to honk too, but I assume that is just from aging up.
Is this normal?? Is there something I can do? Or do I need to get her in to a vet?
That is not normal kuku, I'd take her to an avain vet if you can. Is she mostly grazing and eating her feed[made for fowl] and not eating human stuff? Ask about swimming in pools with chlorine, since they drink so much water.

I was wondering if anybody has some advice for this situation: I have a toulouse goose name Chestnut who is rather mean and hisses quite a bit. I try to spend lots of time with her but she still is just as mean. Also she just recently got babies so she's even more mean. :jumpy: Shes very nice to the rest of the flock its just humans shes mean to.Does anybody have any suggestions on how to make her feel more friendly towards me.

Your goose will not be friendly while she has young babies, no matter how nice she might have been before... That is, even friendly geese become witches when they have babies.

My recommendation is to do a LOT of quiet sitting near them. Take a book and spend a lot of quiet time near them.

With treats. She may or may not be interested, but it sure wouldn't hurt to have them handy in case she decides she'd like some.

Hi I'm oilabel I've been reading your posts for several weeks. You've all taught me so much and I love reading about animal families. I have an Emden gander who takes great care of his three Toulouse geese. They have four goslings. They're almost as big as their parents. Stay cool! PS where did everyone go?

Hi! Share some pictures!!!

She is doing much better now!
I was given some more ideas of greens to try and switched her to a waterfowl feed - she just hit 11 weeks so it was time to take her off the chick feed and niacin - and now that she has decided she actually LIKES green things (funny girl, before she would eat a little, but not much, she just wasn't interested in anything green) and now she will even eat the grass outside! I have got to get some more pictures of her up. She is growing like mad!

The heat is so bad its killing the livestock. Lost a rabbit and a Cayuga duckling today. Thank you for the welcome. I'll see if I can get pics tomorrow.
