Ok, will post more pics...I only have two ganders, one is the son of the other. I have had other ganders, but they were more quarrelsome and never got to breed as I sold them on. I kept one young gander last year as this strain seems to be so very mild-tempered. I´ll keep more young ganders this year, as I want to have even numbers of ganders and geese. I´m a bit concerned about in-breeding, as I´ve no idea if the ones I already have are related...\I think they most probably are. But, I once saw other dilute geese with the white faces in a bird shop an hour away, so I´ll have to talk to the owner, and if I can get some of them I should be ok. I want to keep my ganders as they´re so great.Be sure to keep pics coming so we can follow growth too. it's so much fun to watch the changes taking place. None of your ganders fight?
These geese that I have seem to function better in pairs. At the moment, the younger gander (Spot) wants to be with the 2 geese that have his 4 goslings, but also with the goose in the pen that has his 7. He spends the whole day going between the 2 groups. I´m hoping that when I release the tinies that they´ll either make up one big flock (gander + 3 females + 11 goslings), or that he´ll stick with his goose and the other two will look after their 4. However, I think the first thing will happen, as these 3 geese are all sisters, and are bonded. Next year they´ll have their own ganders....that´ll mean a lot more ganders, but I´m hoping that things will go fairly quietly, due to their natures (very cotton-patch-like in this).
