Toulouse Geese Thread

I have a weird situation developing in my pasture. I have 2 geese, 1 gander almost 2 years old and one of their offspring, gander 1 year, all Toulouse. I am hoping to sell the 1 year gander.
But the weird thing is they seem to be shunning my smallest goose. She is even being chased by the two drakes, the hen duck just started laying. She doesn't appear to be ill, so this is just weird. Any suggestions?

Ok, yeah the geese are ok...but the eggs were just missing from the nest. So I didn't know if they woulda moved them or if an egg thief got them. I'm in the process of building them a goose coop and paddock out at my new house. They will free range when we are home during the day on 40 acres, and be locked up at night. But for now they are still at a friends farm. :/ so with protection...would yearlings be able to hatch out and brood goslings or should I wait and try again next year?

Some can and do. Mine did last year.

I had to chuckle after seeing the photo then reading the above. I can tell by the stink eye he's giving the camera, he might have trust issues, lol. He sure seems to love you

What is the trick to breeding and hatching out Toulouse geese. I have a pair and this is the second year the female will lay a clutch of eggs. She is on and off the nest and does not seem to take it serious. Any help or pointers would be greatly appriciated

I currently have a female Toulouse sitting on a nest with a dozen or so eggs in it. She has been sitting for about a week now so, if all goes according to the book, another 3 weeks or so and we shall see how she did. She gets off the nest a couple of time a day to eat a bit, walk around a few minutes, drink water and wash her face and take a quick dip to preen. Then right back to the nest. I am guessing, since this is my first hatch attempt...and her's...that this is normal behavior. If anything happens out of the ordinary the gander hustles her back inside the goose house to the nest and stands guard at the door. The other female is a companion to the gander and assists her with keeping the nest in order but does not even attempt to sit on it.

So, as long as your goose is returning to the nest and sitting the nest most of the time I am guessing that is normal behavior.
