But has it been tested to determine that is fact? No, so it’s speculation.
To some extent " the proof is in the pudding" as said, the birds' production picked up dramatically immediately upon being switched to a non-tsc bag of the supposedly similar formula. No waiting for more daylight, no adding more calcium, etc.

Well, I have been using producers pride which was 13 dollars a bag, the dumor was 18 a bag, and the purina was 25 a bag. But I read that purina may be having issues with vitamins. I went with a Natures way or an organic chicken feed to see if that has any help to get the to start laying eggs again.

Time will tell

One other thing to consider, just because a food claims to have calcium, this, that, and other stuff in it, does not mean it is in a form that is easily used by the bird. I mean, I could throw scale off the toilet bowl into the chicken feed and say it has plenty of calcium but if they can only absorb say 2 percent of that and use it, then how effective it it?

Thanks Sue,I have Colombian Wyandottes. They have layer all winter before this year.
the only light difference is a motion activated light I hung off the coup thus fall. Egg production was already dropping before I added this light.
I saw a post This morning on YouTube that mentioned Dumor and Producers pride had deficiencies causing flocks to stop laying.
I know the folks on this site are passionate about their birds so if anyone knew if this was true you folks would.

Im just going to pay through the nose at my feed mill and buy thief food and see what happens.
thank you!!

Hey Jaybird and all, I buy my feed from TSC. Its called Nature's Best Organic. Anyone else use this brand? Curious. TSC doesnt offer an organic or non gmo over 16% protein for layers, so i mix a bag or the 20% protein chick starter with the 16% protein layer feed. As for laying my 5 Gold laced wyanottes have not laid since Oct. I got one random egg yesterday, so thats good. They all just molted too. Good Luck

I use nature wise from TSC and haven't had really any issues.. won't buy dumor/Purina. I have 8 laying hens, young first years, I get anywhere from 5 to 7 eggs a day. Average 6.. we do have a night light in the barn, for our own purpose so as not to trip lol, they are awake approx 12 hours a day because hubby doesn't want to put them to bed when the sun goes down.. they are all so spoiled and happy..
I too will not buy purina or dumor. I use Natures Best i get from TSC, heard of them Cluckingtime? I did buy Dumor at first but something felt off. Not sure what, just a feeling I suppose. Anyway, I love that your hens are so loved and happy. And, giving you eggs! Mine laid ALL winter last year. This year, nothing! (i did get one yesterday tho), so super happy about that, lol.

I'm using nature's best organic, but I'm using the starter/grower formula and feeding oyster shells on the side. They're laying well, but then they're 10 months old.
