Tractor Supply Chicks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to our local tractor supply today, in Ohio. I called and asked if they had silkies. They said yes, about 30, so I headed on up. My daughter and I just incubated 10 silkie eggs I bought on eBay and 2 hatched. I was hoping for 4-5 so I headed to TS. Had to buy 6, but I got 2 buff, maybe a splash and 3 white silkies out if the bantam bin! All have 5 toes (except 1 has one of his 5th toes almost non-existent), black skin and feathered legs. We'll see what happens. The chicks I hatched are a gorgeous black showgirl and black bearded silkie. Very cute.
Can I ask you about your ebay hatch? I got some Japanese Bantam eggs to put under my broody hens last summer, and only 2 out of 12 hatched. Is that a good place to buy hatching eggs? I wasn't very pleased with the number. After waiting almost an extra week for more to hatch, I went through the eggs. There was only one other embryo that had even started.

BTW, I'll have to look at our TSC and see if some of their assorted bantams are silkies! I saw some with feathered legs, but it didn't even occur to me to look at skin color or toe numbers. I haven't had silkies in years!

Ours will stop carrying them on the 27th, so it is def. coming to a general close. It does vary, though. Likely as long as you see their Chick Days banner on their website, it will be going on somewhere. Y'really might want to walk in instead of call though, if you can... when I called I couldn't even get a straight answer on when they were expecting their next shipment of chicks, but in the store there were staff that could piece together all the info needed between them.

Our TS this year had Silkies and Frizzles in the Bantam boxes. People were going nuts trying to get them. They also had the reg RIR, Leghorns, some seabrights and mixed bantams. We ended up with a white Frizzle Cochin from them. :)

I ended up with 8, really only wanted 6, but you guys know how that goes.

1- Light Brahma
1-Dark Brahma (labeled Buff brahma)
1-Tetra Tint
1- Black Pullet
1- Golden Comet
3- Silkies

The silkies where the last ones I picked to bump it up to at least 6 chicks. They only had three, so I couldnt just leave one or two. So I got all three.

And I got 6 EE from a different feed store, I couldn't resist them.

Here in Ky My TSC says the Law states You must buy a least 6 chicks or Ducks. I was getting feed and JUST LOOKING at the Chicks . She ask me if I was going to buy any ?I only wanted 3 Silver lace Wyandottes for My Flock ; She wanted only 3 ducks for Easter .She ask If We could buy them this way and The cashier say "NO You must buy 6 of each". I did get the 6 chicks . but She never got the Ducks. I'm trying to stay AWAY from TSC . My Flock has 16 Different Breeds. 1 roo , 1 laying Hen and a young pullet about 3-4 months old .then all the rest range from 5 days to 8 weeks for a total of 79 . Plus the nice lady that I talked to at TSC is giving Me a pair of Silkies. My son laughes everytime I get another chick ans says "Mom YOU need HELP" I said sure I do ! these little sweeties are costly when I have to buy 6 just to get a breed I don't have ,but want... Today He came to visit .He had a 50 lb bag of starter and grow and a roll of chicken wire. But I promised to stay away from TSC for 2 very long weeks...............
