Tractor Supply Chicks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quote:
Good luck since the people working there probably will have no idea. They sure don't at the local one. That being said the 6 sexed pullets that I got from them last spring were 3 SS, 2 production reds and a white rock. Sexing was correct and the birds are doing well. Just remember that because someone works for a feed store that doesn't mean they know a darn thing about chickens.

ETA: Here they were as pullets last spring.

X2 to that.... I asked at TSC and no one there knew anything when I went to see them. I had called a few days earlier to see what they had and the clerk said we have some white ones and some orange ones....I hope that helps. We don't know what kinds...I just said Thanks and then decided to go look myself after seeing all the negative comments on TSC and their chicks..now I know why they were NEGATIVE.

support your locally owned feed store! (i do patronize TSS when the ma and pa stores are closed like Sunday's when i've forgotten to get hog feed etc.)

Actually, I got my silkie from Tractor Supply. There was a bin of assorted bantams. I just looked around for the fluffy ones with feathered feet and found my silkie

she won best of variety at the fair too!

Last year our TSC got a double shipment of chicks because a nearby city passed an ordinance that they could not sell live chicks or bunnies. Anyway, we had WAY too many, and they got very mobile and were flying from bin to bin. Needless to say, out of the 7 we purchased, 4 were Roosters. I have learned my lesson. OUr local feed store get PULLETS around Easter and I am going that route.

My local TSC got their chicks from Mt Healthy last year. The day I checked them out they had a bin of assorted ducklings, a bin of meaties, one of sex links and a bin of assorted bantams ~ all which looked like white silkies! They got several shipments over the "Chick Days" and may have had different breeds at different times.

I didn't buy any chicks (as I had hatched some of my own) but when Chick Days was over they sold all of the 7 lb feeders, 1 gallon waterers and heat lamps with bulbs that they used for less than 1/2 price! I picked up a few of those.

Right now they have bunnies ~ the sign says they are required by State Law to sell a minimum of 2 at a time. They also note they they are being sold for Agricultural purposes.

I am going to a different feed store that isn't carrying chicks, even though my chickens prefer the Layena that I can get at TSC, because I DON'T TRUST MYSELF!!!
"I only have room for 8, and I will not get any more....." repeat 20 times 3 X a day.
All that fuzzy butt cuteness is just too irresistible. And if the kids saw them, well forget about it!
