Tractor supply pullets

How do you know if it's a meat bird or a rooster? I feel so dumb after reading everyone's horrible experience with tractor supply. At my store everyone seemed very knowledgeable and helped me but when I bought my chicks I asked them are they sure their all female and the said that they were asked and in the other bin they weren't sure mine seem very healthy and happy. They are getting big so fast and I'm getting nervous because all I want is laying hehens

Meat birds are going to grow extremely fast, which I know, is hard to tell when layers grow fast too. But meat birds are meant to grow to slaughter size around 8 weeks, so it is much faster than layers. They will also hog the feed, sometimes even laying down next to the feeder and eating. They pretty much never leave it.

As for roos, harder to tell, sometimes not until they crow. Generally their combs will come in and redden earlier than pullets. But keep in mind vent sexing is only 90%-95% accurate, so even ordering directly from the hatchery won't guarantee all pullets.

All my purchases with TSC from the pullet bin have been accurate for breed and sex. I don't think these errors are the norm storewide.

Ok that makes me feel a little better. Most people love the tsc in our area. None of my birds hog the feed they all eat and drink at the same time. Now I do have one bossy chuck LOL she always tries to get out the brooder box as they watch her it's hilarious . I wish I could post a pic. But it won't let me.

Got a question about coops. Does the nesting boxes go at floor level. Im trying to buildi mine just bu looking at pic. Its gonna be roughly 4x8 profably anout 5ft tall. It is 2 ft off ground. I only have 6 chicks. How many more would I be able to get.

My nest boxes are around 8-10 inches off the floor. I set them on some bricks and bolted them to a wall. Seems to work fine.

Never bought chicks from TSC. I did buy some ducklings there about 5 weeks ago. They had four, I only wanted three. They sold me the fourth for a dollar. The guy said if I left one there it would be squawking all the time and it would drive him nuts! I told him I'd give him a dollar for it. He said "DEAL"!!!

All four are huge now! I believe they're Pekins but I didn't think Pekins got that big.

I got my "pullets" 2.5 weeks ago. The two that are the meaties are on the left and grew much faster than the others. Their feathers also came in differently. They definitely hog the food and eat a TON.

400

These are the meaties that I've been told is also a rooster:

400

This is on of the others that is the same age and smaller and is a layer ( I hope)

I went back to tractor supply and they were really cool about giving me two more since the ones I initially got we're not what I wanted.

The meaties are huge. Probably more than twice the size of the others.

I'm not sure. The people at tractor supply didn't know. Someone on here said maybe
White Plymouth rock or leghorn. I've no idea. They are all so sweet.
