the top hen and the bottom hen were from a farm fridge down the road

this hen was from my fridge

the 3 chicks to the right were from a neighbors fridge

Here are some babies from my TJ hatch. I will get som recent pics later today. They are 5 weeks
Mine went out to the pen on Saturday (making too much mess in the shower.) All of them that hatch (11) survived and it looks like a 50/50 male to female ratio. I will try and take a pic when I get home.

Carrie, I noticed yours all look to be pure white, opposed to the California Whites? Can't wait for pics!!

congrats everyone!! one question… what do you mean by eggs from my fridge? also, very excited to see what i get! I'm on day six of incubation

Gotcha! Pictures just snapped, 11 TJ's and 6 redstars. Three weeks old and already addicted to crack (corn) lol

Found some 6-day-old eggs at TJs this morning. Got the 'bator heating up now. Waiting for my kid to get home from school so we can set the eggs.

It means the eggs were refrigerated before incubating. This is not generally the the preferred method and some feel once refrigerated, they will not hatch. The people here are proving that theory wrong. You would not want to move them straight form the fridge to the 'bator though. If you try this, you need to let them come to room temp first. These eggs would fall into the "shipped eggs" category since they were likely trucked in. There are some folks who are discovering that shipped eggs may have a better hatch rate if not turned in the incubator for the first week, then turned from day 8 thru 18, at which point they go into lockdown and are not turned again.
