White can be either dominant or non dominant in chicken genetics.

The rooster is going to be a white egg layer breed and probably a different color. You could always email the supplier and ask.

They will end up telling you it's probably a sex linked leghorn derivative

Wow, I was just linked to this thread. How nifty! I'm getting my first incubator on the 22nd(if the estimated arrival date is correct) and will be setting some Trader Joe's eggs. I'm so excited!

I'll probably also throw in some Silver Penciled Rocks since I can get a dozen for 15 bucks. I'll have to keep up on this thread & document my progress with you guys!

Hi, folks. Brand new member, here. I've had chickens for a few years, currently have five hens in my little backyard flock, all purchased as chicks. One of them got broody last year and it was awful for months. So when she went broody again a couple weeks ago, I decided to find her some fertilized eggs. I couldn't get any locally, so I bought some TJ fertile eggs and put 4 under her, thinking she might hatch one or two. I've never hatched eggs before. On day 4, I wasn't sure if they were developing, so I put 2 more under her. I candled yesterday and ALL SIX are developing! This is Day 12 for the earlier eggs and Day 8 for the later ones. I realize now I shouldn't have added more eggs, because they likely won't hatch at the same time. And if they do...well, six more chickens is rather more than I have room for! At least there's a good chance I'll get a pullet or two, and I have a country friend who can take any roos (I live in a no-roo zone). Nothing quite like leaping before you look... ;P

Update to last night's post: I candled this morning, after spending way too much time last night looking at pictures of candling and the resultant eggtopsies, and decided that two of my four eggs were bad. We broke them open and found that one never started (as I thought), and the other died really early on--just a tiny black nugget in the yolk. Of the remaining four, three look great and one is questionable, but we're giving it a bit longer. This is Day 13 for two of the eggs and day 9 for the other two. My main concern now is what will happen if the earlier eggs hatch and the later ones are still going. I'm going to set up some sort of incubator just in case (annoyed as hell at DH, who tossed out the nice incubator I was keeping in the garage, because he thought "we'd never use it").

Just wanted to add: I just figured out that my eggs were packed April 25. I started the first group May 7 and the second group May 11. So even eggs that have been refrigerated for at least 16 days will develop when placed under a broody hen!
