Trader Joes & Other Grocery Store Egg Hatching Club - Are you a Member

I had two Trader Joe eggs hatch for me yesterday! If I were to guess, I have one boy and one girl.

Commercial flocks of fertile egg chickens often have roos of a different color than the hens.... Makes it easy to do a head count, I guess, for roo:hen ratio.

How can you tell? I would like to guess what mine are! ...can barely tell them apart

One way is odds. 50/50. Another way is because one is feathered differently than the other and one has a black dot on it's head and is fuzzier than the other. It kind of supports my odds theory.

If you cross a non white roo with a California White (which is California Grey x white leghorn hen ), wouldn't you expect some nonwhite chicks? The closest thing to nonwhite I see is faint spots of grey.

I'm new, so clarify this post for me: are you saying that you take the eggs you buy in a carton at TJ's and place them in an incubator and they actually hatch???

Yes, you go to trader joes, find the cartons that say Fertile Eggs, and you pick out the freshest box, and incubate them, and they hatch.
