I wanted some BCM from a friend, she sold them to an organic store 45 min. from my house. I ran up there to grab them and I also grabbed 5 SFH eggs one blue isbar egg and am putting the lower 3 eggs from my coop in as well. my eggs are 2 blue isbar/olive eggers. and the tan one is a blue isbar/LO/australorp.

Very nice eggs!

I hope they hatch for you

Looks like I'm probably only going to get 7 chicks. Out of the 48 I had 17 candle well but they started to pip a full day after the last of my chicks from my own eggs had hatched. So basically they hatched on day 23 (old eggs do take longer) but I'm guessing the refrigeration also effected these eggs negatively. I had to pull my other chicks out before these TJ eggs started to hatch because some of them had hatched out the evening of day 20. I threw some hot, microwaved wet paper towels in there to get the humidity back up quickly and it seemed to work. None of the other eggs seemed to have pipped except for one with a dead chick in it.

The TJ chicks are the white-yellow ones. The hatch rate of the eggs that candled as good was less than 50% while with my own eggs only a few didn't hatch and that might have been a candleing error (which is not likely with those easy white eggs from TJ's).

After it was all said and done I only managed to have one pullet chick make it to adulthood. She just laid her first small egg today at 4 months and 3 weeks old. It seemed like she wasn't developing much but I finally out her in with my Cream Legbars. They didn't seem to bother her much and in just two weeks she really filled out, got a much bigger, redder comb and laid an egg right in the nesting box on the first try! Now let's see how many Saphire chicks I can get from just one hen...probably plenty!

about 11 of this fridge batch is still developing,
but only 5 of the BCM eggs were fertile or not too old. Some of this case was too old...
I grabbed more from the same organic store and set the best candled eggs today
.
I only set eggs between the fresh egg look and the 7 day look...

more BCM and some SFH

(The "S" stands for "Saphire" as I'm crossing her with my Cream Legbar too to make Saphires).

So far my only TJ's hen has only skipped 3 days since her first egg 24 days ago! She's my only white egg layer so I know that they have all been her's. They are still on the small side but she hasn't even been laying a whole month.

They are very good egg layers!

What do the eggs weigh in Grams?
