I'm sure you'll be right!. I almost worry about them like my children!

I have a rabbit cage in the living room with a cardboard liner to eliminate corners and create a barrier from draft (though there shouldn't be any draft there) and a heat lamp. Food, water and ACV ready to go!
Dwkuska, exactly! $2.49 I think was the cost! Can't beat that!
tlcmama, I'd love to vaccinate as well, but you can't get smaller doses. There are some people who manage to split the vaccine into smaller amounts, I read it somewhere, but it's hard to know if your dose is correct when you do that, plus how do you keep it from getting contaminated? I just gave up on the idea :-(
hmmm so $15 to vaccinate 6 chicks (IF they ALL hatch)
there is really no way to cut the doses before reconstituting unless the powder is divided
not easy or sterile

and unless the reconstituted vaccine is stable for a LONG time it must be destroyed - BURNED?! really??

You guys are so lucky to get your hands on vaccines. Here it is not allowed :(

No luck on my first 3, but setting 3 more tomorrow. Organig free ranging this time. They MUST have a roo for them dont they? And: Dont tell hubby because he already think I am a crazy eggbrain

LOL, we are probably all egg brains here, but we don't tell on each other!

I found the vaccine for like $ 19, but the shipping brings it up over $50. I'm going to have such a small flock, I've just decided to risk it. I did notice the hatcheries don't do bantam size breeds and don't even reccomend vaccines for small flocks. So... I'm still torn, but I'm not vaccinating....

if it helps I have had chickens for 8 years and never vaccinated any....ever. And my chickens don't get sick. I don't worm, any of it.

Well, I finally fell asleep with two eggs pipped. I woke up to one of those that pipped last night having hatched, and the other, not yet. AND the one I had messed with, the one I pulled out and candled TWICE after lockdown, 'cause I'm bad, pipped, zipped and was almost out when I woke up! Another one pipped in the night too. So, I have two chicks drying, 2 eggs pipped and 2 that haven't started yet this morning! I really really really hope all 6 hatch!

I started building the coop, and boy howdy, I don't have the energy I used to have! (well, and it was 96 degrees out) but I'm making progress (nothing special, winging it with materials I found in the garage, LOL. Still, it'll be nice and big, should be enough for 8 layers with a run. Lots to do now that the chicks are here!!!

WHOA WHOA WAIT! HOLD ON! You can incubate store bought eggs? Like the ones that are frozen? I thought freezing them killed them! Someone please explain this to me my mind is blown
