on the protein thing, you can up it by going to flockraiser and offering oyster shell free choice. You can soak a couple alfalfa cubes in warm water and add any kind of feed to that as well, you can offer meat protein scraps a couple days a week, or a combination of any of the above.
I mix flock raiser and layena about 50/50 and offer one or 2 alfalfa cubes mixed with the pellets and warm water about 2-3 days a week. We give them any scraps we have left over but limit the meat scraps to no more than three days a week. I keep a 4x4 piece of old plywood flat on the ground in their run and flip it over once a week to reveal grubs and worms. Now when they see me go to the wood they all line up on one side and wait for me to flip it. I would guess that their weekly average protein intake is 20% with a 1/4 to a 1/3 of that being meat protein. If your really worried about probiotics (im not) give them a treat of greek yogurt once in a while. They love it and it is absolutely entertaining watching them eat it, LOL
