Trapping thread

I agree however when you have tried scaring it off, scent marking everything and it still won’t leave, death it the only option.
I planned on killing it and leaving the body in the woods as a deterrent.Heard if other foxes smell dead ones they leave the area to avoid it being them.
Nope. Not true. Canines are cannibals and are particularly attracted to meat of their own species, around here I know a lot of guys who recycle fox/lynx/wolf and coyote carcasses as bait to catch the next one...and you better check your sets often otherwise you may find another was caught but all that’s left in the snare is the head lol

There’s been some real yarns spun in this thread and quite a few doozies turned loose.
No yarns from me lol, no need! I’ve seen (and heard of) all kinds of species eating their own kind - here’s a lynx whose buddies found him delicious! I get stuff from trappers all the time that’s damaged or half eaten, bears, cats, wolves, it no longer has value as fur, but they make beautiful mounts still, you just have to be a little more creative!
And I’d love to know which auction pays $1000 for a cat, this spring prime winter lynx only brought $350-$400 max :(
