Trapping thread

No yarns from me lol, no need! I’ve seen (and heard of) all kinds of species eating their own kind - here’s a lynx whose buddies found him delicious! I get stuff from trappers all the time that’s damaged or half eaten, bears, cats, wolves, it no longer has value as fur, but they make beautiful mounts still, you just have to be a little more creative!
And I’d love to know which auction pays $1000 for a cat, this spring prime winter lynx only brought $350-$400 max :(View attachment 1861396
Nope. Not you. The clear spotted bobcats from the mountain west were bringing 1k but even they’ve come down to 500-700 the past few years on average.

Wow I didn’t realize the size difference in your bobcats, the ones I see here average 5-10 lbs and NAFA priced them at most $240 but I see a western one went for $2000!
I’d love to mount one of those, probably looks like a little mountain lion! Our grey fox are the same, they’re very rare in the north and maybe the size of an average house cat....that poster above said hers was what, 23 lbs?

I live on the east coast so not a whole lot of experience with bobcats but the gray fox here are bigger and thicker furred than the grays down south and in the southwest. They’re not the easiest to snare either. Caught one that was giving me fits finally with 4-5 in loop. I felt ridiculous walking away from that set but I finally caught him after a week of playing games.

This one killed several of my birds several years ago. I'm pretty sure I already posted this picture.

Yep! Pretty proud of myself! I would mount it’s head if I hadn’t shot it in the face and blew its nose off lol. And I don’t think the family would approve.:(

So yesterday I caught a coon.He was so much more entertaining and gave us quite the show.Him and my dog practically cussed each other out through the cage.I did release him as coons have been no threat, ever .I think i have figured out the foxes path and we’ll be waking up early to try and atleast see what ur encounter. Same time every morning and same path.It runs across the roof and does a circle around the house and darts to the woods (According to my dogs nose knowledge).

I have found that many predators have routines and routes. We are on a dead end road. This is a right of way along the fence line. The predators mostly coyotes use it like a highway.
