Treebeard's offspring

it will be interesting to follow this batch of babies as there are only 3 black Nn and 5 that are either buff or white{i cant tell yet}..... I am curious to know if they are Sexlinked??? some of the moms are black australorps

a little blurry but here are a couple of the white Nn babies

update on jan babies.... hatched 3 black and 5 white Nn.... there are several Lilac? roos that I believe to be his also but for the purpose of my DDs 4-h project we are only tracking the Nn.
Sunday we put on wing bands and recorded weights, at 4 weeks most of the babies are over 11 oz... not bad. we plan to take weights probably every 2 weeks till they hit 16 weeks so we can see the growth curve and help decide on breeders for the next part of the project.

I currently have 4 roosters that are direct descends of treebeard.

he has 5 girls but I am only getting 1 to 3 eggs a day..... I have one of his babies in the brooder that is 2x as big as his hatch mates at 2 weeks old... just set a few more eggs so we will see what happens in 3 weeks

Moved the 3 and 4 week old babies outside today. Banded and weighed the ones I want to track. Here is a (bad) pic of 2 of Big Boys babies. The white one weighed in at 14.5 oz at 4 weeks and the blue one at 13 oz also 4 weeks old. Not bad and close to where their daddy was around the same age.

my next batch is due next weekend, and weekly for a while, I have set every egg I got from Big Boy and his ladies for the last 3 weeks. I am hopeful to get more of their offspring on the ground. My plan is to be able to consistently hatch babies that can hit close to 5 pounds live weight at 12 weeks. Big Boy did just that now I want to see if I can make that my standard not an oddity.
