Trespassers Suck

Tax issues. Don't know nothing about MI, but here in La. I have my property listed as reforested rural land, or agriculture production. The absolute lowest listing. Maybe MI has the same type of thing. I did not have to register with any tree farm program, I didn't have to prove I planted trees, I don't have to prove I have horses or cattle. They send me a form, I check off ag production, mail it back, bung bam boom, no tax bill.

Tresspassing.
I don't have to post any signs, I don't have to do anything. La. law says if you are on some one's property and can't PROVE you have permission you are tresspassing. Now getting a law man to do anything about that would be a true miracle, but that's the law never the less.

I could tell you stories, that no one would believe, when it comes to people tresspassing on my land. And I only have 14 acres, can't imagine how complicated it would be if I had 400 and didn't live on the land.

Yeah, we had the ag exemption for years. Lovely assessor revoked it as forestry is not listed ag anymore here. It's been a battle for 10 years or so with her - at one point our tax BILL was over $16,000. Um no. Tax tribunal loooooooves us. We (my father and I), scour the tax laws, and each year find something to apply for and then continue to appeal every single tax bill received.

If only they would have let us keep our ag exemption, and we wouldn't be such pains

The sad thing is we do actively manage it for selective logging and forestry.

I only have a few acres-but we get tresspassers all the time thinking they can walk their dogs down our driveways or take lovely strolls-we have signs everywhere-no one cares-I stop everyone that I can to nicely say get the heck off my private property!

I love my stinging nettle.Good for your health, but will sting you for hours if you just run into the stuff.
