Well off to my house in Ste. Genevieve MO. I'm under siege from family & friends from St. Louis to view the eclipse. We will have 2 minutes & 40 seconds of totality. One of the longest blackouts. Estimates range from 10,000 to 68,000 descending on our little historic town of 4000. How nuts is that?
Feedman should be close to totality. And R2elk will experience it. Won't be home till Tuesday. Sure wish I could sit out with my birds to observe their reactions. Oh well....

Oh no! Not Bertha & Bert! Rotten kids!

So...as soon as I got into southern Missouri there were signs posted every 5 miles saying "No Parking on Shoulder". Lots of out of town license plates a already floating about town! All kinds of activities planned to entertain the tourists this weekend. Big doings in little Ste. Genevieve! The LSU (Louisiana State University ) "Mobile Astronomy Lab" is already parked at one of the hotels. Right next to the Ole Miss' " Mobile Astronomy Lab". Had no idea there were such mobile astronomy things about. I'll keep ya all posted.

R2elk...sounds like Casper & surrounding areas are under siege too!!

So it's dawn & friends & family are already on their way. Forcing me to make them breakfast. Serving chicken & turkey eggs!! Forecast is good. Should be clear for our big event. Although high humidity and high 90° predicted. Brought my big kennel fans. Not about to sit out & sweat for hours. Town is swamped. I'm hunkered down in my cabin.
R2elk....what's it look like out there? Clear??

The sky was clear almost up to the totality when some thin cloud cover blew in and it kept getting cloudier right up to the end.

You can see the album here. Some selected shots can be seen here.
Beautiful shots R2elk! It got dark here. And the temp dropped significantly. We had 2 mins/40sec of totality. And a 360 degree sunset. Just awesome!!
Aurora...great shot of the kids!!

That poor chicken. That was funny!
Ann...Aurora is right. Turkeys are wonderful communicators. The more time you spend with them the more you'll understand them. Mine have picked up on phrases. When I ask them if they "Wanna go for a walk" , they head to the gate. They know their names. And they know "Let's Go", when they are grazing out front they start heading down the driveway go their yard. Like dogs, be consistent with your commands and follow through with an action. They will put it together. But then again, I spend a lot of time with working with them.
