This is the last tom I need to get rid of. The bearded lady is my oldest hen who will turn 8 years old this year.


Her beard got to about 6" long last year but then the other turkeys ate it back to what it is now.

R2elk, beautiful birds! What do you mean get rid of....new home or the freezer? That hen looks great for being 8 years old! Love the beard....I'm partial to hens with beards!!

So Annie is lounging in her dust bath crater. Wallowing around throwing dirt everywhere. One of her favorite activities. I just noticed two of my BA hens in there with her. Pretty funny. Just this a big pile of feathers, beaks & feet! Annie is doing that "Happy Turkey" chirp. Nothing like a happy turkey!

I have worms all over the place. The chickens eat them. I think you either have it in your soil or you don't. Call your local university extension office & talk to them. My turkeys & chickens have separate coops and pens, but they free range together.

One of my neighbors brought her dad down to meet the turkeys today. She kept telling him about them & he was over visiting today and wanted to meet them. They were sweet as usual & he fell in love with them! Most people have never met a turkey before. And across the board they leave wanting a pet turkey.

Hey Feedman....your hatch sounds like its coming along great! I was just wondering how things were going. Keeping my fingers crossed. Yeah, my girls are sweet, and cute! Most folks are totally enthralled after meeting them. I guess its not so surprising, but most folks have never spent time with a turkey. They are usually pretty amazed at how much fun they are.
