Hey Feedman! Was starting to wonder if the heat got ya up there! Was going to run up to Ste. Gen the last few weekends, but just too hot. If I don't have to travel with dogs in that kind of heat I wont! And YES...Ted has been shown twice as a puppy....dog under a year. We got points toward his UKC Championship at both shows. Had him entered at an AKC show in Mississippi but due to heat didn't go. It will be this fall before I get him out again. No coon hunts going on right now either. Just sort of on hold till it starts cooling off!

Those Jubilee Orps are beautiful!

Daisy laid another egg on my foot yesterday. We had a bit of a break in our weather, due to storms. So I was out all morning working in the yard. Both turkeys hanging out supervising. I'd periodically sit & take a break.
Daisy tends to sit at my feet. At one point she stood up & just laid her egg. This is not the first time shes done this. Now why wouldn't she waddle 20 feet over to her nest box? Annie will go sit in her nest, lay them pop out & rejoin us. Chickens always excuse themselves & go lay in their box. But Daisy has no qualms about laying an egg on me. I'm finding this behavior odd..I don't get it....

In our neighborhood we are gearing up for the 69th 4th of July parade. Everyone is decorating their houses & making sure their yards are cut & trimmed. Venturing out with the turkeys last night was fun! Lots of kids running around. Lots of folks who grew up in the neighborhood return with their kids for the event. The girls got an offer to ride on a float. They are red, white. & blue....after all! Flattered, but we declined. Although Daisy would be fine. Annie would just scream at all the people! They will be locked in their pen under fans!

So our cold snap won't be lasting. Back to over 100 heat index. It was a nice break for the birds. The whole neighborhood is getting ready for our parade on the 4th. Believe me...the girls are inspecting all the flying flags & decorations. Went next door to help a neighbor hang some bunting. Girls came with. They both stood there watching. We got it hung, neighbor turned to the turkeys and asked them if it was straight. Geez. Every house gets a little flag planted on either side of their driveway. Boy that was cause for much conversation between the turkeys!

I'll post a picture. It's quite the scene.

Going to be a hot one. 106. Daisy is still under only one fan. One of my big kennel fans was recruited for the bbq last night & parade today. But Annie was the one standing at the gate to the pen complaining yesterday evening. Daisy had retired to her roost. I did go check her out. They are both usually on their roosts by 7:30 so it was odd she was up & fussing. Didn't detect anything wrong or weird with her. Guessing she was wanting that fan back too. Its frustrating when they exhibit unusual behavior & I can't figure out why. Then I have to remind myself...they are turkeys after all!!

Few quick pics of our parade. 69th year! Folks lining up behind one of the firetrucks. We had 12 floats but didn't get good shots of them.
