Hello all!
Newbie to the forums here :). I have a white leg horn with vent gleet, has for a while now. I have tried most recommendations from all of you!
Things tried:
Epsom soaks for weeks
Fungal creams
Yeast inf creams.
Betadyne spray
Epsom salts in water
Apple cider vinegar in water with minerals

Vet visit time? It's pretty costly but I have successfully put a lot of time in to fixing her prolapse and don't want to give up now!

Any other advice you all can think of?

Thanks in advance.

(No other hens with this, have had them 2 to 3nyears)

It might be hard to find a vet familiar with chickens or vent gleet. Do you have any pictures of her vent and backside? Is there a foul odor or constantly runny ooze from the vent? Could she just have vent damage from the prolapse, or suffered some vent pecking and feather picking along the way? If you do see a vet, they might do a fecal float for worms and coccidiosis, and a gram stain for bacteria and fungus. Vent gleet is usually a fungal disease (yeast or candida infection.) I think that it is not as common as many people think. Some think that any messy vent or feather picking around the vent is vent gleet. Antifungal medicines such as Nystatin (medistatin powder available online,) and probiotics in the diet may be helpful.

Thank you for replying! I don't have a picture as I just bathed her. But she has had this since she was a little chick, since before her prolapse :(. It is mainly a white discharge with a foul odor, very leaky! We've trimmed her feathers back as well. I will get a picture before she has dust bathed as well so it's not just stuck on dirt.
Do you typically just bring a sample to the vet or the whole bird. Hard to find a vet near us taking new birds. Last one quoted 150 just to be seen. I have yet to try nystatin!
